9/11 A Film by Jules & Gedeon Naudet and James Hanlon, DVD 2001

An extremely powerful documentary of the horrible events of September 11, 2001 based on the footage that the Naudet brothers shot of the firebrigade stationed next to the WTC in New York. The brothers were doing a documentary on fire fighters and ended up doing one of the great first-hand documentaries in history. Jules, riding with Battalion Chief Pfeifer, went into Tower One, while Gedeon, at the station as the planes hit, filmed from the outside. The result is an infinitely touching story of brave humbleness in the face of the incomprehensible. The silent heroism, integrity of the fire fighters, their connection with one another, their rock-solid commitment to do whatever they can, makes this film an uplifting documentary of human dignity, internal strength and beauty of life.
