Reading this autobiographically written book only now, I am astonished how radiant, timely and inspiring the cult classic is. One of the best crystallizations of various forms of holistic, interdependency-intensive, anti-reductionistic thinking I know. Capra writes clearly and powerfully. What makes the book particularly uplifting is its strongly personal tone and rich use encounters and conversations with some of the leading thinkers of our times that he has known personally. A superb piece of content philosophy, as I would call it. From this excellent and excitedly composed book one can jump into the core ideas of the likes of Gregory Bateson and R.D. Laing in ways that does justice not only to their creativity and insight but only to the tone and boldness of their style and individual heroism in reaching out to new realms of the human condition.
